These are my current settings. After patch 3, I cannot change either one. Changing those settings will have no effect. I would like to reverse them to the following:

SkipIntroMovies=1
ForceLowCPUBackgroundVid=0

Are these settings being stored somewhere else now? I tried changing settings on two computers. Thanks.

some settings havent worked since the beta for me(still dont), like the static background one and the one to run in a window :/

I found it. It has been moved under Documents and Settings.

Where exactly was it moved to? I still see it in the main game folder, and can't find it anywhere under Documents&Settings.

Found it. The only thing they left off doing was encrypting it. That would have been the last thing to do to make it harder to find. Even the Searcher didn't find it.

Check 'C:Documents and SettingsYourUserNameApplication DataMicrosoft GamesRise of Nationsrise2.ini'. I was able to modify rise2.ini and have the changes effect the startup sequence.

If you're unable to display 'Application Data' open up Windows Explorer. Go to the File Menu 'Tools' -> 'Folder Options' -> 'View' tab and choose 'Show hidden files and folders', then hidden folders such as 'Application Data' will be visible.

ohh man i cant find rise2.ini either
before, for long time ago i found it in the
game map and i did some changes there but now
i have installed Ron some times and now its like gone,
i take show hidden files but nothing, i search for the file under search but nothing lol so where has it gone

I had this problem also. What I figured out is, there are 2 rise2.ini files. Keep looking and you'll find a 2nd one that the game actually uses.

The one I found that the changes actually worked is located under:

c:documents and settings(profile)application datamicrosoft gamesrise of nationsrise2.ini

Otherwise the rise2.ini under the actual game folder doesn't seem to affect how the game runs.

I use WinME so for me the rise2.ini that works is at 'C:WINDOWSApplication DataMicrosoft GamesRise of Nations'rise2.ini

If you modify this file it will work.

There is a rise2.ini in the main RoN folder under Programs but it does not work when I make a change there.

I even tried to make a change in the Desktop Icon like you can do with AOM but to no avail. I wish it would be that easy. LOL

the rise2.ini file is only read from the C:Documents and Settings{User}Application DataMicrosoft GamesRise of Nations folder when you have patch 3 installed.

I have the Patch3 and Win ME and the rise2.ini file is not a read only file for me and I have made changes to it and it works just fine as I said above.

I have changed many fields in this file but it does not seem to ever make any difference. Is it possible that two versions of this file exist in the software (one with a slightly different name) or that something turns it 'off'? I even checked back and the file still had the changes I had made. I also used search to find the file and only one is listed by that exact name.

Yhano there are not two versions of the game.

In Windows ME the rise2.ini to change is in C:WINDOWSApplication DataMicrosoft GamesRise of Nationsrise2.ini

In Windows XP it is in C:Documents and Settings{User}Application DataMicrosoft GamesRise of Nations

In both windows ME and XP there is a second rise2.ini file in the main RoN Folder but it is not the one to change.

In Windows ME I am having no problem changing the rise2.ini file and it is all working for me just fine.

I do have the Patch3 installed and that did not cause me any problems.

Sonicrockz the only read only file I encounter in the RoN folder is the BHGVIDCardconfig.txt file which looks for outdated video drivers so I am not sure about your rise2.ini file being read only. It is not that way for me in either of the two places I find rise2.ini.

Sorry for any mis-understanding, I ment that rise2.ini is only looked at by the game in the Documents and Settings folder after patch 3 was installed.
