Learning Italian

Traveling is more than just seeing the sights. I like to be culturally emerged with the destination I travel to. During my recent trip to Italy, I wanted to challenge myself to learn Italian. I believe it is never too late to learn a new language. With Rosetta Stone, learning Italian is fun and immersive. After just a few sessions I started to feel confident speaking and understanding Italian.

How Rosetta Stone Works

Rosetta Stone has a natural approach to language learning. Instead of being handed a list of vocabulary to memorize like you would in a school class, you’ll acquire new vocabulary in real context. For example, they don’t have english translations when you’re learning new words. You’ll learn by matching the phrases with the photos shown to you. See photo below for reference.

I have taken language classes in high school and college and there was a emphasis on learning conjugations of verbs and tons of vocabulary that I couldn’t fully remember when actually speaking. I spent more time trying to conjugate verbs in my head than knowing it naturally. Because they use repetition and varies subject matter you’ll remember phrases and vocabulary better and know how to use them naturally in a sentence.

As you progress with the units, you’ll acquire new vocabulary, phrases, and questions that you would use in real life which I found so helpful when in Italy.

Lessons & Units

Below is the outline of the Units for Italian. Each unit will provide the main “Core Lesson” which takes about 30 minutes to complete. In addition, you’ll have mini lessons that take about 10 minutes to complete on pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, reading, and writing skills which will further enhance what you learned in the “Core Lesson” per unit.

TruAccent

They have a huge emphasis on pronunciation! There is no point in knowing the vocabulary if no one can understand what you are saying. Each lesson has TruAccent, which is a speech engine that fine tunes your accent based on how Italian pronounce the words.
